Practical No.17: Demonstrate the working of the Household Refrigerator to identify different components and type

Practical Significance

A household refrigerator is an appliance that is used for the short-term preservation of food
products in the home by means of refrigeration. A domestic refrigerator is a metal cabinet with
a built-in hermetically sealed refrigerating unit when the hot gas in the coils of the condenser
meets the cooler air temperature of the kitchen, it becomes a liquid. Now in liquid form at
high pressure, the refrigerant cools down as it flows through the expansion valve into the
evaporator coils inside the freezer and the fridge.

Procedure

1. Identify and locate the components.
2. Locate the refrigerant tubes connecting different parts and trace the path of the refrigerant.
3. Observe and trace the path of the refrigerant.

Component Function Type
Compressor Increases the pressure and temperature of the refrigerant. Electric motor-driven pump
